WEIGHT WATCHER CLINICS:

Latest statistics show that up to 25% of domestic dogs in the U.K. are obese. Over weight pets are more likely to suffer from health problems such as arthritis, heart disease and diabetes. We have trained veterinary health advisers who are able to offer free individual counselling to help your pet lose weight and regain their health and vitality.
Please ask for a free weight check and, if necessary, we will be happy to make an appointment with the health advisor.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS:

If you have an animal on long term medication of a prescription only medicine (P.O.M.) please telephone the clinic before you run out of medication, allowing 24 hours notice where possible.
In order to comply with legislation, and to ensure the safe and effective treatment of your pet, it is necessary to have a check up with the vet every 3 to 6 months before further medication can be prescribed.

DIETS:

We have a full selection of lifestage diets available from all our surgeries. Nurses trained to Veterinary Healthcare Adviser standard can help you select the diet appropriate to your pet. We also stock prescription diets, used to help manage a variety of medical conditions.

FINAL CARE:

It is always a sad and anxious time when your pet dies or needs to be put to sleep. We realise this is distressing for all those involved and we endeavour to offer as much support as possible.
Please feel free to speak to any of the nurses beforehand if you have any questions regarding what happens at the time, and any arrangements you may wish to make for burial or cremation. This can be done on an individual basis with ashes returned to you in a casket.
Many clients prefer a home visit on this occasion and this can be organised by prior arrangement.
It is only natural to grieve over the loss of a pet and if you feel you need further support, we have trained staff that can offer specialised help and advice.

DENTISTRY:

Just as we clean our own teeth daily, our pet's teeth also require regular attention. They suffer from plaque, caries and periodontal disease. Bad breath is often a sign of dental problems. Research has shown that by the age of 3 -4 years 60% of both cats and dogs have a problem with their teeth. We routinely examine mouths at every consultation and have a wide range of products especially designed to maintain good dental care for your pet. In some cases teeth may need de-scaling and polishing, which can easily be arranged and will leave teeth clean and breath fresh! We also offer a free 6-month check after all dentals with one of our trained veterinary nurses.

MICROCHIPPING

All of our surgeries offer microchipping, a simple but permanent way of identifying your pet. The microchip, which is the size of a grain of rice, is implanted under the loose skin at the back of the neck. This is a similar procedure to giving a vaccination so no anaesthetic is needed.

Each tiny chip has a unique number code, which is registered at the National Pet Log database, with you and your pet's details. Most vets and rescue organisation have hand held scanners so that if your pet accidentally becomes lost it can be quickly identified and reunited with you. Please ask one of the nurses for further details
